*Hi, my name is Abena Adzenyah*

I'm a Ghanaian-American raised in Glastonbury, CT, currently pursuing Computer Science at the University of Connecticut. I am passionate about the human-to-computer interaction and aspire to participate in the User Interface/Experience industry. I'm fascinated by the power technology has over the human mind and why it is important to increase ethical features in algorithms and UI designs. A person who inspires me is Tristan Harris, who is a Computer Science grad that is a current design ethicist.

What are
Technology Ethics?

"Technology ethics is the application of ethical thinking to the practical concerns of technology. The reason technology ethics is growing in prominence is that new technologies give us more power to act, which means that we have to make choices we didn't have to make before."

How can
social media
moderation
promote
confidence &
individuality?

Algorithms have the ability to affect the human's brain even after the phone is put down. Using social media in a conscious manner without mindlessly scrolling can promote the ability to take back the control big social media platforms want from you. Taken from Sites at Penn State, "They [Platforms] are more likely to shape it [algorithms] towards the interests and likes in today's society rather than the things they actually enjoy."

Using big platforms in moderation can reinsure that you remain your most authentic self while still being connected to the world.
